Coworking in the time of Covid19

3/17/2020

Dear Red House Coworkers, in keeping with the County Health Department's advice we have decided to adjust our availability to keep our members safe. The Red House is no longer open to non-members for any drop-in coworking.

We understand that many people are doing their best to shelter in place while keeping their businesses alive, which can be extremely difficult in an area with spotty internet coverage. We are staying open to our members for emergency business needs only, and to minimize exposure and cross-traffic we are asking everyone to please book time for the conference room, living room, or the standing desk nook before coming into the house. That will allow us to monitor the number of people using the space so everyone can maintain careful social distancing. Please use the Lysol wipes provided to wipe down any surfaces you touch when you arrive AND before you leave.

Also, as a courtesy to our resident coworker Stephanie, please keep use of the shared kitchen to an absolute minimum. (It's the only place she has to prepare food.) From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful to every coworker for being a member of our community. We love you all and we can't wait to see you all again as soon as this very, very strange global experience is over.

Air hugs,
Lia and Scarlett

Achieving goals isn't easy. Trying to do it without a plan is even harder. Creating an annual plan will help you move towards your goals, in the timing that serves your business best. It is the bridge between the vision you set for your business and the actual work you need to do.
Discover the art of annual planning; which is comprised of organizing tasks and activities, strategically through the year with such organized precision, you can always trust the business is engaged with exactly what it should doing, during anytime of the year.
It works because it starts with you and your goals as an entrepreneur and then gives you the tools to implement a plan. What’s more, this Annual Plan will grow and evolve with your business. It allows you to adapt to changes your business may incur through the year, and helps you learn and improve your process along the way.
In this workshop, you will:
  • Understand the importance of building an Annual Plan
  • Assess how your business is currently performing so you know what to focus on
  • Build your 2020 strategy, organizing quarterly goals, monthly initiatives and weekly actions
  • Walk away with clear “next steps” to get on track for 2020

This event is free, but please sign up so we can get a headcount.

Business Meetings in Fort Bragg

9/20/2019

Fort Bragg is a scenic, sleepy coastal town. It's friendly, it's casual, it's charmingly weatherbeaten. We love that. However, sometimes you need to have a serious meeting in a professional setting. Maybe you need to discuss some business strategy, proprietary information, or sensitive intel. Maybe you don't want to hold a business meeting in your house because frankly, your laundry is in a pile on the sofa.

Suddenly the local coffee shop full of friendly locals just waiting to talk your ear off is significantly less appealing. Where do you go? Here are some options...

Back patio at Milano Bar - 300 E Oak St. Fort Bragg
Yes, it's a dive bar, but there is a nice little patio in the back that is often uninhabited during the day. If you just need to have a casual, private chat, and maybe a day-drink, this is a great option.

The Red House - 650 N Main St. Fort Bragg
The Red House is a private coworking space, but our conference room is available to the public for $25/hour. It's first-come-first serve, so you'll need to contact us beforehand to make sure it is available. It has a meeting table with room for 4 people, 6 if you squeeze. There's a gargantuan whiteboard, and you can close the door for privacy. The chairs are very comfy. We can have tea or coffee waiting for you upon request.

Walk the headlands trail - Park at either Elm or Cypress St parking lots
If you are only having a conversation and you don't need the meeting table consider the Coastal Trail. It's nicely paved, pet friendly, wide enough to be ADA accessible, and you can get your exercise while getting your business meeting done. The trail runs 17 miles up to the north end in Cleone, so you'll probably run out of discussion topics before you run out of road. Bring a jacket and a hat with a brim. It can be sunny and quite windy at the same time.

Rent Fort Bragg Town Hall - 363 North Main Street, Fort Bragg, CA. 95437
If you need a place for a large meeting, consider renting Fort Bragg's town hall facilities. It has a projector, plenty of seats, and there's parking nearby.

Town Hall Use Fees
Basic Use Fee (each 12 hours) - $125
Non-Profit Use Fee (each 12 hours) - $60
Additional Use Beyond Basic 12 Hours - $10
Security / Cleaning & Key Deposit (to be paid in advance - all facilities) - $200
Deposit for Alcohol Use (to be paid in advance  -all facilities) - $500
AV Equipment Use & Setup Fee (hourly) Min. 2 hours, $43 hourly charge thereafter - $135
AV Tech after hour charge (hourly) - $178
Custodian Charge (during normal hours of work) - $62 / Hour
Custodian Charge (overtime rate) - $186 / Hour

Lunch in Fort Bragg

8/28/2019

One of the most common questions we get at the Red House is "Hey where can I grab a quick lunch around here?" That slow coastal town vibe is suddenly less charming when you are starving and you need something local, tasty, and now-ish. Here's a few of our favorites, chosen for deliciousness and speed of service. Plus a handy map, sorted into layers.

Cravingrill

863 N Main St, Fort Bragg, CA 95437
Don't let the location fool you, this is some solid mediterranean food. Plus, they will have your order in your hands asap. Favorites: shawarma platter, cauliflower platter, dolmas, excellent baba ganoush. Call ahead 707-961-6123.

Sea Pal

A local favorite, Sea Pal often has long lines, but they move pretty fast. Once your order is in you'll probably get your food in about 10 minutes. Favorites: the fish and chips are absolutely delicious. Burgers are grass fed beef, we like to add grilled onions and extra tomato. Call ahead 707-964-1300.
