At 4pm the Red House will host a workshop with Rachel Clark; What Makes an Entrepreneur a Leader?
Learn how to actually lead your business. Rachel will coach us through a process to:
Stay after the workshop, or come join us around 5:30pm, for a fun Red House mixer. Meet our community, make new connections, sip wine, and peek at our backyard construction projects. This is a great way to meet other local businesspeople, so don't forget your business cards.
On Oct 30th Scarlett and Lia be on the air at 11am on KZYX's brand new show Pivot Point with Christy Wagner. We are thrilled to be the first guests on this monthly show that interviews folks with can-do, innovative, and creative approaches to moving it forward in Mendocino county... and beyond! We'll be talking about coworking on the coast, our inspiration for starting the Red House, digital nomads, and some thoughts on the rise of the resource-sharing economy.
Fort Bragg is a scenic, sleepy coastal town. It's friendly, it's casual, it's charmingly weatherbeaten. We love that. However, sometimes you need to have a serious meeting in a professional setting. Maybe you need to discuss some business strategy, proprietary information, or sensitive intel. Maybe you don't want to hold a business meeting in your house because frankly, your laundry is in a pile on the sofa.
Suddenly the local coffee shop full of friendly locals just waiting to talk your ear off is significantly less appealing. Where do you go? Here are some options...
Back patio at Milano Bar - 300 E Oak St. Fort Bragg
Yes, it's a dive bar, but there is a nice little patio in the back that is often uninhabited during the day. If you just need to have a casual, private chat, and maybe a day-drink, this is a great option.
The Red House - 650 N Main St. Fort Bragg
The Red House is a private coworking space, but our conference room is available to the public for $25/hour. It's first-come-first serve, so you'll need to contact us beforehand to make sure it is available. It has a meeting table with room for 4 people, 6 if you squeeze. There's a gargantuan whiteboard, and you can close the door for privacy. The chairs are very comfy. We can have tea or coffee waiting for you upon request.
Walk the headlands trail - Park at either Elm or Cypress St parking lots
If you are only having a conversation and you don't need the meeting table consider the Coastal Trail. It's nicely paved, pet friendly, wide enough to be ADA accessible, and you can get your exercise while getting your business meeting done. The trail runs 17 miles up to the north end in Cleone, so you'll probably run out of discussion topics before you run out of road. Bring a jacket and a hat with a brim. It can be sunny and quite windy at the same time.
Rent Fort Bragg Town Hall - 363 North Main Street, Fort Bragg, CA. 95437
If you need a place for a large meeting, consider renting Fort Bragg's town hall facilities. It has a projector, plenty of seats, and there's parking nearby.

One of the most common questions we get at the Red House is "Hey where can I grab a quick lunch around here?" That slow coastal town vibe is suddenly less charming when you are starving and you need something local, tasty, and now-ish. Here's a few of our favorites, chosen for deliciousness and speed of service. Plus a handy map, sorted into layers.
863 N Main St, Fort Bragg, CA 95437
Don't let the location fool you, this is some solid mediterranean food. Plus, they will have your order in your hands asap. Favorites: shawarma platter, cauliflower platter, dolmas, excellent baba ganoush. Call ahead 707-961-6123.
A local favorite, Sea Pal often has long lines, but they move pretty fast. Once your order is in you'll probably get your food in about 10 minutes. Favorites: the fish and chips are absolutely delicious. Burgers are grass fed beef, we like to add grilled onions and extra tomato. Call ahead 707-964-1300.
Join us for a regular Wednesday noon gathering at the Red House.
Bring your lunch, we'll have drinks and together we'll listen to a 20-30 minute podcast from entrepreneurs with tips and insights about running their businesses. We'll listen, discuss and then go back out and change the world.

Candid Conversations about Growing and Running a Small Business
Sometimes you are cleaning up after an event and your heart explodes with excitement and gratitude because you have such wonderful people in your community. That's what happened as we were wrapping up from the Red House Open House yesterday. Huge thank you to everyone who turned out, and brought their energy and ideas to our coworking space. It was a spectacular mixer, that morphed into a relaxed hangout as we dragged chairs around the living room and chatted about potential collaborations and entrepreneurial ideas for the North Coast. We are thrilled to welcome some new members to the fold, and we can't wait to see what they do in the space!
What's the deal with the guest suite?
Because we maintain a private cowork community, the guest suite is only available to Red House members and their invited guests. It's a beautiful two-room suite overlooking the back garden, with a desk, couch, chaise long, and plenty of floor space for yoga or stretching out. North facing skylights let gentle morning light pour in.
The guest suite is the perfect solution for members visiting the coast from inland Mendocino county or the Bay Area, who don't want to loose half the day to driving time or brave the curves of highway 20 in the dark. It's great for people who are hosting a two day workshop or an event downstairs, and don't want to pay local B&B prices or deal with their unreliable wifi.
Digital nomads will rejoice at the rare intersection of comfort, charm, and really really fast internet, allowing the intrepid travel writer, day trader, or free-spirited worker to ACTUALLY GET THEIR WORK DONE. Amazing.
